First Breath

Introduce a character today—not with a name or a list of past sorrows, but with a single moment. Maybe it’s the way they tuck a loose strand of hair behind their ear while lying, or the half-smile they wear before vanishing into a crowd. Let a cough, a blink too long, a fingertip tapping glass betray more than words ever could. Characters don’t breathe through exposition—they arrive in the hush between two gestures. Let them speak silently, and watch how deeply they stay.
