Viswakarma Puja: India’s Festival of Creation

Across India, 17 September carries the fragrance of prayers, the hum of machines decorated with flowers, and the spirit of gratitude. It is Viswakarma Puja, the day dedicated to the divine architect and engineer of the universe. From factories to fishing nets, from garages to computers, tools are worshipped with reverence.

This festival reminds us of a truth India has long carried: that work is not just labour—it is sacred. The craftsman, the driver, the farmer, the technician, all become partners in creation. In many places, colourful kites dance in the skies, symbolising aspiration and freedom.

On this day, India does not just celebrate machines or skills—it celebrates the dignity of work and the divinity of creation.
