The Cat Who Waited Near the Gate

Every evening, a cat would sit near the same gate before sunset.
Not inside. Not outside completely.
Just near enough to watch the road.
People passing by noticed it after a few days. It became part of the scene, as if it had always belonged there.
Then one evening, an elderly woman arrived carrying a small bag.
The cat immediately stood up and walked toward her—not excited, not hurried—just certain.
The woman smiled, placed a little food down, and spoke softly before entering the house.
The whole exchange lasted less than a minute.
But it carried familiarity.
A small rhythm repeated daily, without attention or display.
There is something comforting in such ordinary connections.
Not every meaningful moment needs depth or drama.
Sometimes, simple recognition is enough.
A familiar face. A repeated gesture. A quiet routine.
Tonight, there is something gentle to remember.
Life is often held together by very small moments that repeat quietly over time.
And sometimes, those are the moments we miss most when they disappear.
