The Dog Waited for the Boy Every Evening

Every evening near sunset, a dog would sit beside a narrow lane leading toward a small school.
At almost the same time each day, a young boy appeared carrying a worn school bag.
The moment the dog saw him, its entire body changed—tail moving instantly, eyes fully alert, energy returning like light entering a room.
The boy always stopped for a few seconds.
Sometimes he shared part of a biscuit. Sometimes only a touch on the head before continuing home.
Then the dog would quietly watch until the boy disappeared from sight.
And the next evening, it returned again.
Not because it was trained to.
Not because it expected anything large.
Simply because certain moments had become important to it.
There is something deeply human in that kind of waiting.
We too return toward small moments that make us feel recognized, even briefly.
A familiar voice. A repeated kindness. A few seconds that soften the day.
Tonight, there is something gentle to remember.
Life is rarely changed only by grand events.
Sometimes, it is shaped quietly by the small moments we begin waiting for without even realizing it.
