“The future depends on what you do today.” — Mahatma Gandhi
An old wristwatch rested quietly in a drawer.
It had stopped working years ago.
Its glass was scratched. The leather strap had faded. Repairing it would probably cost more than buying a new one.
Yet its owner never considered throwing it away.
The watch had been a gift from his father on the day he started his first job.
For decades it accompanied him through successes, disappointments, journeys and celebrations.
When the watch finally stopped, time did not stop with it.
But memories remained.
Many of the most treasured possessions in our lives are valuable for reasons that cannot be measured in money.
A watch may become a story.
A photograph may become a bridge.
A handwritten note may become a conversation that continues long after the writer is gone.
Perhaps that is why we hold on to certain things.
Not because they tell time.
But because they remind us of moments that shaped our lives.
