After the first heavy rains, the old orchard came alive with fireflies.
Children waited eagerly for this annual miracle.
Tiny lights drifted through the darkness like wandering stars.
No festival announced their arrival.
Nature itself provided the celebration.
The fireflies asked for clean air, quiet surroundings, and the patience of those willing to observe.
Their beauty lasted only for a brief season.
Yet the memory endured throughout the year.
Human life also contains such fleeting moments.
A conversation.
A reunion.
A sunset.
Their value lies precisely in their impermanence.
The fireflies remind us that not every wonder seeks permanence.
Some gifts illuminate our lives for a moment and then gently disappear, leaving gratitude in their wake.
And perhaps that is enough.
