Assam, in northeastern India, is home to Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for protecting the world’s largest population of the one-horned rhinoceros.
Spread across the floodplains of the mighty Brahmaputra, Kaziranga is also a haven for elephants, wild water buffalo, swamp deer, and hundreds of species of birds. Its rich biodiversity makes it one of Asia’s finest wildlife landscapes.
A short distance away lies the Kaziranga National Orchid and Biodiversity Park, where visitors can admire hundreds of orchid species along with traditional Assamese crafts, cultural performances, and the region’s remarkable botanical diversity.
Together, these two destinations present a unique picture of Assam—where wildlife conservation, natural beauty, and cultural heritage flourish side by side.
They remind us that protecting nature also means preserving the traditions and biodiversity that define a region’s identity.
