“The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another.”
— William James
A young student once asked his teacher why some people remained calm even when life became difficult.
The teacher filled a glass with clear water and dropped a handful of sand into it. The water turned cloudy.
He then placed the glass on the table and said nothing.
After some time, the sand settled naturally, and the water became clear again.
“Life is often like this,” the teacher smiled. “Not every problem needs an immediate reaction. Sometimes, clarity comes when we allow our thoughts to settle.”
Wisdom is not always found in speaking or acting quickly.
Often, it is found in waiting with patience until the mind becomes clear enough to choose the right path.
