Every evening, long before darkness settled over the sea, an old lighthouse keeper climbed the narrow spiral staircase to light the great beacon.
Most nights, no ship came close enough for him to see.
No captain waved.
No sailor offered thanks.
Yet, he never missed a single evening.
He knew the light was not for recognition.
It was for someone he might never meet.
Life often asks the same of us.
The quiet work we do with sincerity—helping another person, keeping a promise, or doing our duty well—may never receive applause.
But somewhere, it may guide someone safely through their own storm.
True purpose shines brightest when it expects nothing in return.
