A Little More Humanity in Everyday Life

7 November 2026

A little more humanity in everyday life would make an extraordinary difference. It does not require grand gestures, expensive gifts or carefully planned acts of kindness. Often, it begins with noticing what is happening around us.

It could be offering a seat to someone who needs it, speaking politely to a person whose work is rarely appreciated, or refusing to make another person’s difficult day even harder.

We sometimes underestimate the influence of our behaviour. A harsh remark can remain with someone for hours, while a few considerate words may restore their confidence. The difference between the two may take only a few seconds.

Modern life has made us efficient at many things. We communicate faster, travel farther and accomplish tasks with remarkable speed. Yet efficiency should not become an excuse for losing patience or consideration.

A little more humanity is not an ambitious demand. It is a daily choice, available to each of us.

Perhaps progress should also be measured by how we treat people who can offer us nothing in return.
