“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” — Marcel Proust
While reading an old novel, a man discovered a bookmark he had not seen in decades.
It was not expensive.
Just a piece of card placed between two chapters many years earlier.
On it, someone had written a short message:
“Hope you enjoy this book.”
No name.
No date.
Nothing more.
The words were simple, yet they transported him back to another time.
He remembered lending and borrowing books from friends. He remembered conversations about stories, characters and dreams.
The bookmark reminded him that books are often more than printed pages.
They carry traces of the people who shared them.
Life is full of such unexpected discoveries.
A note inside a book.
A photograph inside a drawer.
A receipt tucked between pages.
Small reminders that our lives are connected to countless others.
Sometimes the most meaningful messages are not the longest.
They are the ones that wait patiently to be found.
