“Stay hungry. Stay foolish.”
— Steve Jobs
When Steve Jobs delivered his famous commencement address at Stanford in 2005, he did not speak only about success. He spoke about dropping out of college, following his curiosity, being fired from Apple, starting again, and eventually returning to the company he had helped create.
One of the most interesting parts of his story concerned a calligraphy class he attended after dropping out of Reed College.
At the time, it seemed unrelated to computers.
Years later, what he had learned about typefaces and spacing helped shape the typography of the Macintosh.
The lesson was simple: we cannot always see the value of an experience while we are living it.
Sometimes the dots connect only much later.
So perhaps curiosity deserves more trust than we give it.
What seems unnecessary today may quietly become important tomorrow.
