A man went to his doctor and said,
“Doctor, I think I need more exercise.”
The doctor nodded seriously.
“How much are you getting now?”
“Quite a lot.”
“How much?”
“Well,” the man said, “every morning I walk from the bed to the refrigerator.”
The doctor looked at him.
“And then?”
“I walk back.”
“Anything else?”
“Yes. In the evening I walk from the sofa to the kitchen.”
The doctor smiled.
“That is not exactly what I meant.”
The man thought for a moment.
“Doctor, perhaps you should be more specific.”
They both laughed.
Sometimes the trouble with advice is that we hear exactly what we want to hear.
And sometimes, perhaps, a little humour is the best medicine for a conversation that is becoming too serious.
