Albert Einstein was known for his extraordinary mind, but one small detail of his appearance often made people smile: he was famously unconcerned with fashion.
On one occasion, someone apparently pointed out that his shoes were untied.
Einstein is said to have replied in effect that he had more important things to think about.
Whether every version of the anecdote is perfectly documented is difficult to establish, but the story captures something very human about the famous physicist: he was famously absent-minded about everyday appearances.
And perhaps that is why such stories about great people remain enjoyable.
Behind the genius, the awards, and the history books, there was still an ordinary human being who could forget the little things.
Sometimes knowing that makes greatness feel a little closer to us.
