Nestled among the Swiss Alps, the valley of Lauterbrunnen is one of Switzerland’s most striking landscapes. Sheer limestone cliffs rise on either side, while numerous waterfalls descend from the mountains into the green valley below.
The name Lauterbrunnen is often associated with its many springs and waterfalls, and the landscape seems to justify the name at every turn. In spring and summer, the valley becomes a remarkable meeting place of snow-capped peaks, meadows, forests, and clear mountain streams.
The surrounding region has inspired travellers, artists, and writers for generations.
What makes Lauterbrunnen particularly memorable is not merely its grandeur but its sense of tranquillity. The mountains seem to surround the valley without overwhelming it.
Some places impress us with their size.
Others stay with us because they make us feel wonderfully small and wonderfully peaceful at the same time.
